Better Late Than Never Review: RWBY Grimm Eclipse

We probably owe more to the Dynasty Warriors series than they get credit for. Seriously, these games never seems to get the spotlight but they set the standard for hack and slash games. They defined the horde of enemies style and were a lot of fun to boot. But I'm getting ahead of myself RWBY is (probably) the second most well known Rooster Teeth series. An anime styled show made in Poser of all things. The series is know for its large diverse cast and over the top fights.  RWBY Grimm Elcipse then is a hack and slash where you and up to 3 others fight and shoot your way through hordes of enemies while a basic plot gives it all context. The merging of these two styles of entertainment would be crazy if the Zelda series hadn't done it as well.  You go through the levels as one of four(eight if you have the dlc) characters. Each character has their own move set and variation of a skill tree. While they each have they're own style the attacks are light, heavy, co...

Brewery Review: Salish Sea Brewing Company

For Presidents' Day 2018 we went out and did the most American thing we could on the holiday. Go drinking. The Subaru took us on a surprisingly sunny drive to Edmonds, Washington where just a few blocks from the sound we found Salish Sea Brewing Company.  Flagship: Drop Anchor IPA Dogs: no Kids: yes (accompanied) Do they brew there: yes Food: simple menu Has guest taps: yes Events: yes  Outside seating: yes Wifi: no Named for the network of waterways along the coast it's near the brewery sits on a busy street in  Edmonds. I'm impressed with the interior of the brewery. Though it has a bit of the nautical theme that costal places popular with tourists often use, it doesn't lay it on too thick. It's comfortable. The aesthetic mixes with the old trophies and UW hats. When I ask about one of the medals hanging  behind the bar I'm told it was traded to them for a bottle of water.  It's not a large place (and used to be smaller appar...

Better Late Than Never Review: Dishonored 2

The original Dishonored came out of left field.  A cool first person stealth game in the style of Thief that featured a unique Victorian-whale oil setting (whalepunk?). the game was a triumph of good stealth mechanics and practical supernatural powers. A sequel was unnessiarry but eagerly anticipated. Players loved exploring Dunwall as Corvo; the masked assassin framed for his lover and Empresses's murder. Taking an exciting, if predictable story and putting the player into the thick of it Dishonored redefined what liner stealth and storytelling could do. The sequel does what a good sequel should do. Provide more of what was good while dropping what didn't work. This time it's been 15 years since the last game. Emily is all grown up and the Empress now. On the anniversary of her mothers murder a woman appears claiming to her aunt and Backed by a shady Duke (who brings new enemies for the game) appears to usurp the throne. the player decides here who they're goin...

Brewery Review: Iron Horse Brewery [the pub]

There are few Washington breweries not in the Seattle that are as well known as Iron Horse. Based in Ellensburg, this place is one of the star attractions of a town on the edge between west and central Washington. Flagship: Irish death Dogs: no and they're really sad about it. Kids: until 8 Do they brew there: no Food: full menu Has guest taps: no Events: yes Outside seating: yes Wifi: no For such a big name, the place is especially modest. As I enquire where they brew in the limited space I'm told that they brew elsewhere in Ellensburg. This is [the pub]. It's not the small town brewery I was expecting but given the aforementioned scale of the brewery and their reputation Maybe its approiate. A small place, centrally located in town where the focus is just drinking the beer with all the style of a brewery. The place easily carries the style of their beer cans. What do I mean by that? Well, big windows let in sunlight and a view of the Main Street while ...
