Better Late Than Never Review: The Division

There are a lot of different things that can make a good game, but for me a good narrative might be the biggest. That said I usually can only enjoy these stories alone. By myself. Offline. So I was disappointed to see that The Division required me to be online to play. I don't need to be parried up with some over-leveled jerk running through the mission ahead of me, ruining the challenge, and talking over all the dialogue. Imagine my surprise then when I found out that I can play the game alone. While you do need to be online and a lot of the fun is had playing a mission on a harder mode with friends or through the PvP area, you aren't forced to play with others.  For me this is huge.  I'm not adverse to playing with others but I'm invested in the plot. I want to look around the ruined Times Square a bit before I finish the mission. The story is that a deadly and contagious virus was released in New York City on Black Friday and the now quarantined city has falle...

Brewery Review: Mule and Elk brewery

For the inaugral brewery review I've chosen to highlight one of the true gems of I-90 in Washington, Mule & Elk Brewery. Sitting on the edge of Cle Elum Washington near an exit of The interstate this brewery is on one end of a modest strip mall.  Large signs proclaim the purpose of the business to anyone coming off the interstate, and it seems to work. Even as I approach in the evening I can see that all of the nearby parking spaces are full. I spot a large mural along one side and past it a wood patio with some canvas covers for shade.  Inside the small space is full but not quite crowded. Even empty the brewery wouldn't be large but it's comfortable.  Mostly high-top tables and healthy amount of barstools. The bartender is one of the brewers and is quick with a recommendation on which beer to try. I get a pint and I see one of the unique features of this brewery.  Sitting on the floor before me is an adorable snow white dog.  This isn't my f...

Hey out there!

Greetings Internet!  My name is James Verzuh and I created this blog to talk about two of my passions:  breweries and video games. The goal of this blog is to have regular content about these two topics.  We're going to shoot for once a week. So here's the deal, every Thursday I'm going to give you my take on a brewery I've been to. I live in Seattle but I travel a lot so expect places from all over the Northwest.  Then, every Monday I'll have what I call a Better Late Than Never review of a game where I'll give you my take on a video game that's been out for at least a year. Divorced of the hype and probably sitting in a bargain bin near you, we'll see how these games hold up. If this all sounds good to you then grab a pint, a controller, and stick around for Breweries and Games!
