Better Late Than Never Review, Superhot

This ones a little old again but it's also free on Xbox right now so I'm reviewing it. Superhot is a game with one really good mechanic, good visuals, and a plot that it doesn't need.  Said mechanic is that time only moves when you do. Mostly. You can look around freely and enemies will remain still but some projectiles seems to keep moving albeit very slowly. This allows you to be placed into situations where you are completely outnumbered and survive. The game becomes a mix of shooter and puzzle game since you need to need to find a way to progress through the game by eliminating all the enemies in a section while stand alive yourself.  It's exciting and fun to plan out your attacks and by the end of the game your chaining gunshots, punches, and throws to clear out entire rooms.  You can shoot enemies with guns, attack them with fists and melee weapons, or throw objects (like guns) to make them drop their own weapons. You'll need to do all of th...

Brewery Review: The Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery Portland

Portland is known for a great many things. From bikes to bridges, music to markets, donuts to dogs.  Here though, it's Portlands brews that get us excited. This week we got to look another great one.  Flagship: Puddle Hopper IPA Dogs: service animals only Kids: yes Do they brew there: yes Food: Full menu Has guest taps: yes Events: yes Outside seating: no Wifi: yes Located in downtown near a shopping mall and one of the East serving bridges. This brewery is the Portland branch of the Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery chain but you wouldn't guess it when you go in.  Going in your greeted by lots of metal and glass. It's one of the common styles of both new breweries and restaurants alike for sure, but that doesn't mean it's not effective. Natural light gets in and the place feels inviting. The typical bar is joined by several other types of seating.  Booths, circular high tops, long tables. All the popular forms of seating have ...

Better Late Than Never Review: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

Battle Royale was one of those weird films that was so different, unique, and good that it transcended the cult status of films like it to enter the popular culture.  The film is less than 20 years old but it's already been referenced, ripped off, and retold more times than I can count.  It's no surprise that video games have been taking inspiration from this as well. There was that mode in Minecraft, Numerous Arma mods, and The Culling. Of all these PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has emerged as the definitive example.   PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, or PUBG because that title is both a mouthful and I can't be bothered to type it more than twice, is a simple game that has now defined the new "battle royale" genre of games.  In PUBG you parachute onto an island and strive to be the last one alive on said island. You do this through looting, killings other players, and being really really lucky.  So what exactly does a game of PUBG look ...

Brewery Review Populuxe Brewing

I need to make a confession. I've been to this brewery before. Well that's no surprise. I've been to many of the breweries that get reviewed before I've visited them for this site. I like breweries. I do make a point though to judge breweries, as much as I can, on the experience in the here and now. It just wouldn't do to praise the breweries I went when I celebrated achievements or critique those that I happened to be at on a bad day. I may be drinking but I'm a professional.  All this said, I will be making comparisons today to this brewery as it was when I wandered over to it in early 2015. Now at the time of this writing that's 3 years ago,( a mean feat for the brewery to still exist at all) and it goes without saying that things have changed. Still, the changes are worth noting and are all good.  Flagship: None Dogs: yes Kids: yes Do they brew there: yes Food: food trucks Has guest taps: no Events: yes  Outside seating: yes ...
