Best known for the winter activities there, Snoqualmie Pass is also home to a really great brewery that is making the most of the summer sun.
As I approach the brewery I can see large windows behind the outdoor seating reflecting the evening sun. Inside I find the place small, but with an open feel. Large high top table run across the center of the room while a few booths sit along the left wall. The right wall is glass and sports a few stools and a thin bartop. Behind the glass you can see the large metal vats where the brewing is taking place.
The brewery has maybe a dozen people in it and I head to the bartop along the last wall. As I approach the bar I'm greeted quickly and sit down at one of the bar stools. Upon ordering a beer I quickly realize the they don't do just pints, but rather a selection of different glass sizes, each with a very fair price.
Now I know I'm on thin ice here when I say this, but I kinda like the idea of being able to order a 13.5 oz beer. Crazy talk, I know, but when I'm at a brewery, especially a new one, I'm there to try a bunch of new beers, not just one. Craft brewing is a craft and I want to sample that craft with more choices than 2oz. and 16. To have a few different sizes(which are priced proportionally) is to make it easier for me to do that, and still someone with a fondness for a certain beer to get it in a larger serving.
Once I've had a few of these smaller pins I turn around and see the brilliance of the large windows I mentioned earlier. There in the evening light is a beautiful mountain peak. Perfectly framed in the window it seems close enough to touch. It was, in a word, breathtaking.
DRU BRU is a solid brewery. The awards hanging above the bar attest to their brewing prowess and I though there's a clear ski theme, you can enjoy them anytime of year.
