Today we end things on Breweriesandgames! in much the same way that we began, with a post whose first draft started in the notes app of my phone. Our last post a year and a half after we began. Before I get into the meat of things here’s your to-long, didn’t-read. We’re closing up.
This may not come as a surprise to longtime readers as it’s no secret that posts have been few and far between lately. To say nothing of having missed several important dates. Consistency is an important part of content creation and we haven’t been meeting the goals we set for ourselves. These also aren’t the only goals that aren’t being met.
I have a number of responsibilities, like anyone, and those have only grown in the past year and a half. While I’ve never considered my obligations here any less important than other writing obligations, they do need to take a back seat to some of practical obligations in my life. In dividing my time, all parts have suffered. It’s not easy to say, but I’ve spread myself too thin. Unfortunately the solution is that I need to cut back.
For the curious the current reviews will be up on the site until I can get around to closing it all properly. Expect the related accounts on other to close up sooner.
I don’t think that any of the time spent spent writing this blog was wasted. Even with everything coming down the experience was invaluable. Certinally the pints I’ve had and the great games I’ve played were all worthwhile, but even the bad games and drives back out to a distant brewery because I forgot to get a picture were worth it too. Most important to me though are the people I’ve met through this side. From brewers to bartenders, from game devs to other game critics. Every person I got to meet because of this site was the best part of doing this and I’m grateful for all of it.
I got a lot out of writing this blog, but hopefully you got even more from it. If anyone found a good game they missed on release, or a new brewery to explore than I can consider this a success. I appreciate everyone who took the time to read it and I hope you had as much fun reading as I had writing. Have a Happy New Year and thanks for reading.
Cheers Noob,
-James Verzuh
