I've often alluded a sort of typical brewery style. A reused space, lots of metal and wood. With t shirts on the wall next to some awards. Not that any of this is bad. (Certainly not the awards) just the typical brewery style of 2018.
This week I was in Ballard and expecting more of the typical brewery style. What I got was a brewery with good beer and a clear theme.

Located in scenic east Ballard this brewery seems like any of the dozens of buildings there from its exterior shape. Through the light rain I can see the name, Lucky Envelope Brewing, in bright red against the white of the building. There's a table and assorted fencing outside that hints at seating in nicer weather. It being a typical Seattle day I head inside.
My first thought when I enter is that I'm reminded of a Chinese restraint. The red motif from outside continues here and adds to the feel of the place. There's more to it of course. The name of the nearly three year old establishment holds special meaning for the owners. I learn this and more sitting at the bar.
Seating is typical but effective. A bar with some chairs occupies the far left corner while tables long and short make up the rest of the place. Many of the chairs in the brewery are taken when I arrive. Some of the people on these seats, I note, are wearing Lucky Envelope shirts or hoodies.
Several awards decorate the far wall. Sitting in numerous frames they share the wall with a glass door. This door provides a window into the room where the Brewing is happening. In a way typical, but in a way unique to this brewery.
The beer here is tasty. As always BreweriesandGames! focuses on the brewery itself but I do want to highlight their Eniac Mosaic IPA as a new favorite of mine. Back at the bar I make easy conversations with the bartender and some of the patrons. As I expected there's a fair mix of regulars and tourists like myself.
Perhaps I've been unfair to this brewery. Packed inside I haven't said all that much. I did choose to come on a rainy day in the spring. Breweries shine their best in the sun and Lucky Envelope seems set up for the nice weather. A large glass garage-style door (again breaking the mold but just so) makes up much of the entry wall and I can only imagine how it is when the wall is raised. Because of this I'm not only going to recommend you visit Lucky Envelope, I'm going to recommend you visit it on a sunny day.
